Terms

Terms of use

The ground rules for using Hope for All Care, in plain language.

Development build — draft terms

These terms describe how the current development build is meant to be used. They are a draft under legal review and may change before Hope for All Care launches as a public service.

1. What Hope for All Care is

Hope for All Care is a community support platform that helps people find services, stay connected with people they choose, report safety concerns, and request or fund help with essentials.

2. What it is not

  • Not an emergency service. Nothing in Hope for All Care dispatches police, paramedics, fire or shelter staff. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911.
  • Not live availability. Shelter availability is shown as last reported by the shelter, with the time and source. Always contact a shelter to confirm.
  • Not health care. Hope for All Care does not provide medical treatment, diagnosis or advice.

3. Demonstration data and sandbox payments

In this build, shelters, services, organizations, programs and people shown are fictional and labelled “DEMO DATA”. Payments are sandbox only: no real money moves, and contributions are not tax-deductible.

4. Your account

  • Keep your password private. Turn on two-step verification if you can.
  • You can use a nickname, but please do not pretend to be someone else.
  • You must not try to access information you are not permitted to see.

5. Respectful use

  • Do not use Hope for All Care to harass, threaten, pressure or monitor anyone.
  • Do not send connection requests to someone who has made it clear they do not want contact. People can block you, and we will not tell you whether they have an account.
  • Neighbourhood reports must describe specific, observable behaviour. Do not make assumptions about who someone is, including whether they are homeless.
  • Do not submit reports you know to be false.

6. Content you share

You are responsible for what you write and upload. Think carefully before sharing details or photos that could identify you or others. Messages can be reported, and moderators can see a reported message (but not the rest of the conversation).

7. Organizations and staff

Organizations are verified before staff tools are available. Staff must use their access only for their role and must follow their organization’s policies. Sensitive actions are recorded in an audit log.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Hope for All Care at any time and request deletion of your account from your privacy settings. We may suspend accounts that misuse the platform or put others at risk.

9. Privacy

Our privacy page explains what we collect and how it is used.

10. Changes

If these terms change, we will update this page.
